Justin & Megan Preggo Session!

In early October Megan and Justin came down from the Bastrop area to do a pregnancy session. I had met Megan earlier as her twin sister is Kelsie (you can check out of one Kelsie's sessions here). I was so excited to see Megan again and to get to know her and her Fiancee, Justin, a little bit better. :)

They were such perfect sports - I had so many ideas I wanted to try and they trusted me, even though i'm sure they were a little worried - they still totally rocked it!

One idea I had had in my head for awhile now was this flag concept. When Megan booked their session I knew it was perfect-o for them! See both Justin & Megan are in the military. Justin is a Marine and Megan is in the Army National Guard (which hellooo respect level just went up a whole, whole bunch)!

Seriously, I think this falls into the "one of my favorites photos i've ever taken" category.

What I really loved about J & M is the love they have for each other. They are best friends. You can tell he really adores Megan and the way she looks at him - well he's her rock. Together they are the perfect match ;)

Poor Justin, every time he thought we were done I would say "ooh oh oh wait i have one more idea - do y'all mind???" lol I know he was cursing me in his head! You should of seen the look on his face when I mentioned this picture hahaha. Then, of course, that picture made me notice the tats and led me to this picture - which oh my mercy - I could not love this more.

Psalm's 27: 1-3 I absolutely love that verse.

What I really like about their love story is the fact that they met in middle school and became boyfriend and girlfriend for awhile. Of course, they broke up sometime later but have since made it back to each others arms. Doesn't that just make your heart go pitter patter???

So since the shoot I'm so excited to say that they welcomed a perfect little angel into the world on November 4th, 2011. Her name is Lynzy Grace - and even though I have yet to meet her in person I can tell you she is precious and so so loved (plus I heard all about her recently from a very proud Aunt Kelsie). And if that isn't enough - Justin and Megan are getting married February 18th, 2012! Congrats!!!

J+M+L - thank you so very much for coming all the way to Waxahachie and allowing me apart of this magical time. You guys are awesome and I cant wait to watch all God has in store for your new family!

Chelsea's Baby Shower

Several of you have asked about the details of Chelsea's shower, so I thought I would spill all the goodies here ;)

So this past weekend we had my sister, Chelsea, baby shower. The shower was planned for Feb 19th, but right after Christmas she was diagnosed with preeclampsia and was put on strict bed rest. SO because of the fact the doctor thought Feb 19th would be to close to a possible due date, my mom and I decided ok its now or never...in about two weeks we pulled this off. We were busy bees but am thrilled with how it came out.

We wanted to go with a vintagey circus theme..

Here is the invitation. Originally, I was going to make the invites myself, but with the time constraints and the fact that I just couldn't seem to make exactly what I was wanting I decided to go to Etsy lol. As always, you can never really go wrong there. Within 15 minutes I had picked out the invite and had emailed the shop owner all of the details. Within 48 hours I had these babies printing at Office Depot. This is SO the way to go when doing invites! Its so simple - you pick out the invite, pay for them, send the shop owner the details and then they send you a pdf file of the invite customized to you! I then just emailed it to Office Depot and had them print it on card stock. The total cost (for file and printing) was about $35.00 for 53 invites (does not include envelopes or postage). Lisa, the shop owner on Etsy, was amazing to work with! She redid this invite about 3 times for me! She rocked. Go check her out here!

We decided to go with bottled soda and strawberry lemonade - I got the mason jar idea off Pinterest. Both were a huge hit and a fun twist!

Mom bought these straws from another one of my favorite vendors Shop Sweet LuLu. They have some really great stuff for parties and change out inventory regularly.

The popcorn was another find off Pinterest. We did Kettle Corn and Caramel Corn. To make them stand I bought a piece of styrofoam and spray painted it green. I then bought skinny wood skewers and pushed them down in the styrofoam and put some hot glue around the base. I then slid the cone over the skewer to make the popcorn cone stand - when someone took a cone the skewer stayed in place and I would just put another one on there. The cones are just rolled up pieces of scrapbook paper ;)

My mom made this adorable Diaper Cake!

We found a lady to make the cupcakes and then found the cupcake liners at Walmart.

Here is the food table - We bought the pink pompoms from Party City.

My mom made this adorable wreath for the entrance of the shower. What's great is we went with the theme of the baby's (Maylee) room so Chelsea can put it in her nursery.

I made Chelsea her corsage - I think real corsages are way overrated - plus I wanted to do something different. I made her this one - what is great is all three flowers can be used as hair clips or put on headbands for Maylee - or they can be pinned on outfits as they have safety pins on the back as well :) And even better - this was cheaper than some fancy flower corsage!

Here is a picture of one of the guest tables. We had 5 tables with these on them - we used pink and yellow pinwheels.

I found these online at Lauren Makes - she has several colors to choose from and they are completely free! I printed off tons of these and put them on the guest tables with some markers. Thought it was cute and different and something great Chelsea can put in the baby book ;)

We knew we had to think of a game that didn't require Chelsea to do much moving since she is on bed rest. Thankfully I found this fun little game called Match Mommy - I found it on the blog Little House Big Heart - emailed the blog owner asking if I could use her design and she was so sweet and customized it for the shower for me to print! She has some other fun ideas as well - be sure to check her out!

Well, that pretty much sums up the shower details - we had a blast and Chelsea was blessed with lots of love and gifts. I LOVE PLANNING PARTIES!

Michael & Shanna Ruppert

In September I met up with Michael & Shanna for a photo shoot. This shoot was extra special because it was for their 5 year wedding anniversary! I was so excited because um HELLO 5 years is a BIG deal!

You may remember Shanna from my Women Only Session - so from that post you already know how much I adore Shanna! I had met Michael once or twice before but this was my first time to actually get to chit chat with the man. I was not disappointed - these two are perfect together and were a blast!

When they first walked up I couldn't believe my eyes - M was in a leg brace! Ummm What the WHAT? Come to find out he had been needing foot surgery for awhile from when he was in the Air Force - he finally got it a few weeks prior and here he was in a full blown boot and crutches! He was such a trooper- I know he had to of been in pain, but yet he stuck it out and did whatever he needed to make sure we got that perfect shot (most men are not to thrilled about having pictures done in the first place - let alone when they are in pain - so Shanna he is a keeper! ha)

He got her flowers for their anniversary ;)

Ok so remember how I told you they were a blast? Yes well, let me explain the above photo. So as a fun little idea, I brought along some chalkboards and asked them to write down one thing they have learned about each other over the past 5 years of wedded bliss. They were not allowed to show/tell each other - I had them stand there and then at the same time turn their chalk boards over. I giggled when I saw what Michael had written about his bride - but then I saw what Shanna had written and I just about peed my pants!

See the laughter above? - this explains them perfectly. They are best friends and have so much joy in their relationship that you cant help but smile when you are around them ;) I absolutely loved that about their session!

Michael & Shanna - thank you for allowing me a glimpse into your past 5 years - I wish you lots of love, laughter and smokin hot smooches in the future! (was that inappropriate?)

So long 2011!

I just wanted to take a minute to tell all of my clients thank you! Every year seems to get better and better business wise and its all because of you. Every year I set goals (both personal and business) and each year you help me reach those goals! I was blown away today when I realized I did a total of 62 sessions/mini sessions/weddings this year. What? 62! How did that even happen? In 2009 I did 10 sessions total and now 62?!? Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought I would make it this far. So many of you have walked into my life as complete strangers and by the time your session was over you were already considered a dear friend. To those of you who have been my life long friends and family, who was there when I first started out, thank you for believing in me and for all of your honesty and encouragement - I would not of done this without y'all ;) To those of you are have been loyal - always coming back for more - thank you thank you thank you! You have no idea how much that means to me! To my mom - you're the best - thank you for always stepping in and being my extra set of hands - you have been a God send! To my fiancee, Alexx, who without him, I would of never started this adventure. Who bought me my first fancy camera and even set up a few of my first shoots (as I cried and complained because I was so scared ha!) - thank you for seeing my heart and understanding this is something I had always wanted to do and then helped make my dreams a reality ;)

I hope you all reach a dream in 2012 and that it will be your best year yet. I can not wait to see so many of y'all next year and excited to meet some new friends ;) I have lots of new stuff floating around in my head that I cant wait to share!

Mr & Mrs Hopkins

September 17th, 2011 I had the honor of capturing Michael and Lakeisha Hopkins wedding! It took place at the Holiday Inn in DeSoto, TX. I aboslutely LOVED the colors of the wedding! Of course, everything was perfect thanks to Felicia Leffall at Felicia's One Stop Event Planning!

I always love spending time with the Bride and her Bridesmaid before the ceremony - its always a blast and this group did not disappoint - lots of laughs ;)

This was a very special moment!

First dance as husband and wife ;) - i love the way they are looking at each other!

Told ya this was a fun group! hahaha I love watching people on the dance floor!

I can never stress to Brides enough - please have a great Maid of Honor! I NEED you to have an amazing MOH - they help so many of your vendors on the day of. Thank goodness LaBre'sha was the bomb.com! She was incredible at the bridal session and awesome at the wedding! (sorry just had to give props where props are due! ha)

The reception - im tellin ya go check out Felicia's One Stop Event Planning and tell her I sent ya. She is amazing! I have worked with her on two different weddings now and she is incredible. Everything runs smooth and is always right on time!

Mike & Lakeisha - thank you so so much for allowing me to capture your special day! It was a pleasure working with y'all (even when it felt like the big day would NEVER get here ha!) It was a blast getting to know y'all and to see the special you have. I wish you both a lifetime of happiness!

Lakeshia Hopkins (Henry) Bridals

This summer I met up with Lakeshia for her bridal portraits. I was SO excited as I had been wanting to shoot at the NYLO for a long time, so when she said she was down I was thrilled! Lakeshia's MOH joined her for the shoot and we had a blast - lots of laughs. Brides, I can not stress to you enough - always bring someone you trust/dependable to your photo shoot - they will be your second pair of hands, will put you at ease and they will help me tremendously - overall, they make the entire shoot better.

Ok so now do y'all see why I was so excited about the NYLO?!?! Its gorgeous and bold and so unusual. Lakeshia totally ROCKED it!

Ok so the picture above - SWOON! I love LOVE love it! Absolutely gorgeous - definitely one of my favs.

And another one of my favorites above - it just screams sass, class and everything in between! BAM!

Daniel Turns 2!

Can you believe Daniel turned 2 in July?!?! One thing I LOVE about my job is when I get to document your life year by year. Check out Daniel turning one here. When I went back and looked at that post I could not get over how in a year D went from a baby to this:

WHAT the WHAT?!? He is practically a teenage boy here! Plus, this year we weren't able to just give him a sucker and sit him on a blanket - nope this year I lost 5 pounds from chasing him around. He seriously did not want much to do with me at all, but that's OK because the few pictures I did get are perfect-O.

We found this old plane at an Antique Store - it rocked - well until Daniel insisted on crawling into the back engine thingy...

After the antique store, and some bribing, we headed to a local park. Amy, the gorgeous woman above. is my cousin - I am so beyond in LOVE with this picture - it makes me teary every time I look at it. I call Amy and Daniel twins, but seriously they look just alike - especially if you look at Amy's baby picture - holy moly.

well Hellloooo stud muffin!

This last picture completely melts my heart into a million pieces. Daniel had been running around like a wild man all day - wanting nothing much to do with me, but then, all of a sudden, he squatted down in front of me for a good several minutes and was just so sweet and was talking to me. I love the tenderness you see in his eyes, along with his all boy curiosity. ;)

Daniel - I love you sweet boy! Thank you for making me laugh every time I am with you, you will always have a special place in my heart. ;)

Melissa Fairchild

I know what you're thinking - you are shocked to actually see a new post! I seem to do really well for awhile about writing posts and then BAM its like I cant keep up - dont worry, blog updates are already on my 2012 resolution list ;)

I met Melissa this summer for a photo shoot. She is a life coach and wanted some new photos for her website.

When I found out she was a Life Coach I had so many questions! I'm surprised she didn't send me a bill in the mail after our photo session with all the questions I was asking ;) Melissa is one of those people who instantly calms your nerves - don't ask me how - she just has a very peaceful way about her. Which is great for people like me who are high strung and dramatic! haha

Ok time out about the Life Coach business - I must say right now that I LOVE this photo! Purple looks stunning on you! Gorgeous, gorgeous, GORGEOUS! Also, don't ya think Melissa looks like Helena Bonham Carter ?!?! Which by the way is one of my favorite actresses ;)

Ok so back to her job - Melissa specializes in trauma - such as dealing with a child hood experience, dealing with death, etc.. I think that is amazing! What an incredible gift to have!

So when our photo session ended Melissa offered me a free coaching session! I was excited and nervous - I mean I had no idea what we would talk about or if it would be totally awkward, but I also loved the idea of getting some advice and just to see exactly what it is she does. When the time came we had a session over the phone. I decided to talk to her about my business - its growing like crazy, but I need to be able to pace myself and not get overwhelmed, before I knew it I was talking up a storm and Melissa had so many ideas and insights (on even how to grow my business) that I had never even thought about. I hung up the phone feeling refreshed and not so overwhelmed. It was a great experience!

Loryn & Dalton Teater

Earlier this summer I met up with Loryn and Dalton for a short session - they were less than thrilled to be there, but after I promised to make the session as quick as possible they agreed to give me their best! ha They were really just doing it for their mom - who had promised to hide the extremely outdated family photo that was hanging up in their house LOL

L & D were actually alot of fun to work with, they were both so sweet and willing to do just whatever. I seriously could of photographed these two all day - they are gorgeous with some amazing eyes!

The Teaters actually just moved here from Arkansas, the crazy thing is I have know L & D's parents for years and years - they actually use to live here and (before kids) taught at my alma mater. It was so nice to see them again and catch up.

I think this one was my absolute favorite of Loryn, seriously this girl is a heart breaker!

Cynthia, Alye & Maddy

Back in May I got SO super excited - for two reasons 1. One of my oldest childhood friends (friends since 2nd grade) was moving back to where she belongs (Waxahachie) and 2. We were doing a photo shoot with her and her two girls.

I was so thrilled about this session - until the day of - because then I thought back to year prior when Cynthia came down to visit and we had this session The session that consisted of over two hours of dirty looks, bawling, and gnashing of teeth, bribery, sweat and tears. The girls hated me and wanted me gone pronto - when we finally started getting some good shots of Alye, in the field, she then feel into a huge ant pile and the session had to end (poor baby). Cynthia and I both prayed this session would be better.

When I first got there Cynthia and I just looked at each other and took deep breaths - we already knew what each other was thinking (don't friends like that just ROCK?) To my our surprise the girls were fantastic - Alye was AMAZING - not only did she cooperate, but she was a perfect little model! Oh my heart melted.

Oh Alye - you look so much like your mother! Can you believe those eyes? Geez Whiz this child is gonna be a heart breaker!

Then there was this child - meet miss ~~sassy britches~~ Maddy. An almost two year old with the attitude of a 13 year old! haha This was the first picture I took of her - what makes it even funnier is she did not cry - she just gave me these looks - I learned real quick who was boss ;) Maddy is so full of personality and you just cant help to fall in love with her, because when she does smile - she lights up your world ;)

I LOVE this picture of Maddy & Cynthia - now you can see where these girls get their gorgeous eyes!

This photo stops me in my tracks every time.

I hope the girls cherish this picture of them when they are older - I could not love it any more.

This is basically how Maddy felt about me and my camera.

This last photo made me cry when I was editing it. I think it just captures such a sweet and tender moment between a mother and her daughters. You can really see the love and laughter they have with each other - such a strong bond.

C, A & M - Thank you for letting capture this new chapter in your life. C - you are amazing and I have never been more proud to call you my friend! loves ya!

The Ashton Family!

Remember the Ashtons? I shot their wedding almost a year ago? YEP - they are back! And this time we did some family photos! YAY!

Let me just say - I was giddy with excitement about seeing this adorable family again! They are so sweet and always so much fun to photograph.

Meet Mariah - she is absolutely precious! During our session she was wanting to run all over the place, but every time we would call her name she would turn, look at me, smile and give me a perfect pose. The problem was it would last for maybe two seconds before she was running again! ha

One thing I LOVE about working with families is I love seeing how they interact with each other. You quickly learn who the shy one is of the bunch, who's a daddys girl, the outgoing one, etc...

With the Ashtons they just have so much love for each other - you can tell that Tony is Megans biggest fan and Megan adores her husband. It's also so evident when you are with them that Mariah is the center of their world. I wish you could see the way Mariah looks at her parents - its so full of happiness and admiration!

Oh melt my heart into a million pieces. I'm sure most of you have some type of memory of doing this or something similar with your dad - so glad I was able to capture this sweet moment.

Well helllloooo gorgeous eyes!

Tony, Megan & Mariah - you have no idea how much it meant to me to work with y'all again! Thank you for being one of my most favorite SWP families - you guys seriously rock my socks! (I seriously cant believe I just said that - i'm a dork.i'm sorry.)

The Singleton's

Meet the Singleton Family!

A few months ago I got to hang out with a new SWP family, the Singletons! I always LOVE meeting new clients and I was even more excited because they were referred by one of my favorite family (shout out to the Townsleys!). The lighting was gorgeous on this particular May evening - it was humid too - but compared to the 100+ degree heat we have had for the last month the weather was perfect! :)

Oh and by the way, does the picture above not just scream fun family?!?! I smile every time I look at it ;)

This is Chloe - such a sweet girl - so full of energy and curiosity. Don't you just love that toothless grin? perfection.

And this little guy is Carter - oh my heavens, he kept me on my toes. Talk about energy - it was impossible to get him to sit still for more than 2 seconds - there was just way to much to explore! I did snag a few - and holy moly look at those eyes!!!!!!!! SWOON!

So towards the end of the session we bribed the kids with ice cream (God bless that ice cream truck coming at just the right time). And while they were occupied I snagged a few photos of Dustin and Misty!

The Rigsby Family!

Look who's baaccckk - yes, the Rigsbys recently did a family session! Yay!

This is one of my most favorite families - for one because the kids are ADORABLE and two you NEVER ever know what kind of pictures you are gonna get! haha

Normally, the girls are the ones who want nothing to do with - but this time - this time was glorious! ha The girls were perfect little models and I got some of my most favorite photos ever out of them. We had so much fun! I really love the above photo - it really captures them - they really are best friends ;)

Kobe is normally fairly easy to photograph (I mean obviously, that child is gorgeous) but normally once he warms up to me we are fine - yep, not this time. The majority of the time was spent of me chasing him trying to get a good picture - or me running from him cause he was throwing rocks at me! hahaha He is 10000% little boy! I was able to snag a few of him - this was my favorite ;)

I love this family photo - Krystal & James are really great parents and I loved capturing this special moment.

Kalei - wow this photo literally took my breath away - really shows how much she has grown up - absolute perfection.

Jaycee - SWOON over this picture - she is so adorable - I could literally take pictures of her all day - I love the fact that Jaycee smiles with her eyes - not everyone can do that, but it comes natural for her.

Every time I look at this photo I cant help but laugh - its perfect in so many ways ;)

Nancy & Cooper!

A few months ago, I met Nancy and her son Cooper for a photo session. I had never met them before, but instantly loved them! I mean seriously, is this not the sweetest family picture ever? Plus you know I was thrilled when they brought their dog along for some pictures (I am a firm believer that animals are totally apart of your family.)

We met at Addison Circle - where they live by the way - yeah I know they are SUPER cool for that! I'm going to be honest, I had never been to Addison Circle (yes I'm apart of looserville) but I am dying to shoot there again - so many gorgeous areas.

We walked all over the place - at first Cooper was a little stand offish from me, but I quickly won him over - especially when I promised him he could dress up like Spiderman and have a popcorn war later! ha Actually, the Spiderman idea was his moms, but let me tell you I kept bribing him with it! haha

I adore this picture - Nancy asked me if it would be ok if maybe at the end of the shoot we could let Cooper wear one of his many super hero outfits for a few pictures - she said right now he is all about super hero's and dressing up and she wanted a few pictures of this fun/special/adorable time of his life. I thought it was an absolutely BRILLIANT idea.

This moment melted my heart. Can you see the love Copper has for his mom? The entire day he was all about his mom - it was so sweet to see the love between them and I think this photo really captures that. Its these types of captures that just makes me scream I LOVE MY JOB! ;)

Another one of my absolute favorites ever. I wish you could of heard the laughter at this moment - perfection.

The Stout Family!

I was so excited to meet this family - one, because they are related to one of my most favorite families EVER! And two, just by trying to plan the shoot I knew they would be super fun. Let me tell ya, they did not disappoint ;)

Oh did I mention they were driving all the way back home to Pampa after this shoot? Yeah - yuk to long car rides.

Ok are these boys not the most adorable brothers you have ever seen? I totally fell in love with them - they all have such different personalities - it made the shoot so fun!

Cadyn is the oldest of the three and is so sweet. He was the perfect gentleman the entire day and was incredibly good in front of the camera.

Next up is Creed - he is the wild child of the group. So full of energy and such a "class clown" - if I didn't have him in front of the camera, we were constantly having to make sure we hadn't lost him! He definitely gave me some great laughs ;)

The youngest of the group is Coleson. Oh my goodness - he is precious. Although, he really had no idea what to think of me, he melted my heart. He was so quiet and a little timid in front of the camera - but oh so curious.

One of my most favorite family photos ever. I love the happiness and laughter this family has!

I can not even begin to tell you how much I love this picture. I pulled these out of my bag and Coleson couldn't wait to try them on. But even with silly glasses and a clown nose on he kept it strictly business - no smiles - but that's one reason why I love the photo even more ;)

This picture makes me smile every time I look at it. It also makes me laugh - staying true to their personalities you have Mr GQ, Mr Serious and Mr Class Clown (complete with him being the only one wearing the clown nose!). I think all siblings should have a picture like this - I know I wish I had one with my brother and sister at this age!

Stout Family - thank you for making my job easy. Y'all are absolutely incredible and have such an amazing family. I hope to see lots more of you in the near future!

This post is extra special to me, because this is about a little girl who has a chunk of my heart. Meet Lola - my god daughter ;)

My heart melts every time I look at her. She has a smile that lights up a room and a sassyness that will make you ~~want to~~ need to take several deep breaths. You should of seen me and her momma trying to get her to cooperate for this session - she knew what she was doing because the moment I would put my camera down she would break into a big ole cheesy grin!

You may remember Lola and her precious family from her newborn session - it is insane to me that she was once that tiny :(

Lola's mom and I have been friends since 5th grade. I have some of my best memories with her. One of my prayers for Lola is that I hope she finds a childhood friend like the one I have found in her mom. To have a friendship like that is so rare - and to still be one of my best friends some 20 years later is beyond priceless.

I also pray she loves shopping as much as I do - so when I saw how excited she was about my shoes...well lets just say it was a very proud moment! haha

no words for this one. swoon.

Lola - you have already brought so much joy to my life. I am so excited to watch you grow this year! I can not wait to see what kind of adventures life has for you. Always remember I will forever have your back. Loves ya doll..

Clint & Kelsie

Clint & Kelsie are back!

Im sure you remember them from their engagement session and then of course their wedding last year! I was so excited when they contacted me about doing some photos, as I though it was perfect since it was just weeks away from their 1 year wedding anniversary.

Let me just tell you, we were all drooling over this field of bluebonnets - it was extremely windy though!

We had so much fun hanging out and driving all over the place. It was nice to catch up since they live near Houston! They are both still in the military and LOVING being married - Clint is already saving to buy Kelsie an even bigger ring! hahaaha

Ok I really love this picture- love capturing those moments. You can see just how much they love each other - swoon!

Oh and this picture - well lets just say that make out session even made my face turn red! I eventually just walked away! haha

This last one is one of my favorites. I love the laughter - and it just shows how much fun they have together - they are definitely best friends ;)

Darrell, Liz & Darrian!

I was so excited to meet this cute little family!

We did a few family photos, but we were mainly shooting Darrians 6 month pictures! Let me just say that Darrian is a DOLL! O my word - he did not cry not once - he was all smiles. Oh I just fell in LOVE with him.

If I could sum this family up in one word it would be: "sweet" - they just have such a sweet and warm vibe! You can tell there is alot of love in their family :)

By the way - the picture above - yep, first time sitting in a big boy swing! :)

Darrell is training to become a fire fighter (which by the way, Darrell - if y'all ever need someone to come shoot a "fireman" calendar, I'm your girl!) haha j/k

Seriously LOVe this father/son photo - both of them wearing Jordans - I have a feeling Darrian will be shooting free throws before he starts school!

This is quite possibly one of my favorite photos from the shoot. Every time I look at it I just get a warm,fuzzy feeling. Cant you just see the love Liz has for her son in her eyes?!? Liz, you are beautiful!

2011 Waxahachie Senior: Mackenzie

I think Seniors are one of most favorite groups to shoot. They are just so much fun and always up for anything. Meet Mackenzie, she is a 2011 Waxahachie High School Senior.

Mackenzie is one of those super fun girls who never meets a stranger - she has such a sweet personality and can have fun no matter what the situation!

Mackenzie is thinking about becoming a nurse - she also loves photography - you know she instantly scored brownie points when she told me that! ha

I loved the fact that she wore her prom dress for some of her pics!

Ok the (above) picture is one of my favs from this shoot - there is just something about this one that is just glamorous to me ;)

Don & Kasi

I met up with Don and Kasi over spring break for a "in love" shoot. They were so much fun! I had not seen them in years so it was nice to catch up :)

So let me just tell you how excited I was when Kasi told me she had a key to the Chautaugua Auditorium and wanted to take a few pictures in there as it's a very special place to her and Don.

See, Kasi is the executive director of the Waxahachie Community Theater and they do the majority of their shows here. You should definitely check them out this year - right now they just finished up Annie (which was my all time favorite movie as a child by the way) and they will have other productions in July, October and December!

It was really cool being in there - I came close to living out my childhood dream of being a famous actress and almost broke out in a song and dance routine...but I refrained.

We then headed outside to take a few pictures around the park. What I really loved about these two was how genuine they are together. The laughs and smiles and the way they look at each other in these photos are completely real- there were times I had to tell them to stop smiling and laughing. You can tell they really love being together and really are each others best friend and biggest fan. ;)

Don is the music director for the Waxahachie Community Theater and has also been the Music Pastor at Crossroads of Life Church in Cedar Hill for the past 12 years. They are both such talented, amazing people. They also have three sons, and one sweet grandbaby - which I could tell they are very proud of!

This last picture is one of my all time favorites. I really hope they cherish this picture forever, to me it describes them perfectly and catches a glimpse of this amazing, wonderful time in their life. It's such a "in love" moment. I just adore it.

Done & Kasi - thank you for allowing me to capture such great memories - you two were so much fun and gave me some great laughs! I really enjoyed working with yall and hope to see y'all again soon!

Women Mini Session: Shannan

Meet Shannan

Shannan is seriously one of the strongest women I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. Over the past year I have gotten to know her on a much deeper level and let me just tell you she is amazing. Shannan is extremely crafty and creative and has some serious scrap booking talent! You can check out her blog here! Shannan is so much fun to be around - she just makes everything fun - she is also one of those "tell ya like it is" type of people - which I LOVE!

Shannan did the Women Only Mini with her sister, Shelley - I absolutely love these girls! This photo makes me emotional every time I see it - I just think all sisters should have a photo like this :)

A little over a year ago Shannan's world was completely rocked - her world seemed to crumble overnight - her husband passed away very unexpectedly. Instead of letting tragedy define her she found her inner strength and is an incredible fighter - not only for herself, but for her two precious boys. I have said several times how important having photos taken of you and your loved ones are - that is one reason I pushed this Women Only session - because I think women are pros at putting off having their photo taken - after talking to Shannan one night I asked her if I could share a little bit of her story - it just felt so heavy on my heart - thankfully, she came back and said YES AND that she would be happy to write a blurb for the blog. Below is what she sent me:

"I have always been a ham. I loved being in front of the camera, loved being on stage. I've always been tiny and cute. And skinny. But life happens, kids happen, and we gain weight. The last professional family portrait we had taken was before my youngest son was born. He is 8 now. Josh and I were going to lose weight. We had a great plan...we were going to have great pictures taken as soon as we were skinny and fabulous.
But Josh died last year. As I was looking for photos to use at his memorial service, it struck me. We had been so wrapped up in our own insecurities that we hadn't allowed our journey to be documented.

It turns out we were fabulous all along.

I vowed right then and there to let those insecurities go and embrace who I am...embrace my family and enjoy being on the other side of the lens. After a long, hard journey through some of the most difficult days of my life, I reconnected with my inner diva. It turns out that I am not just a mom. I had let that define me for so long that I lost track of myself. It took spending some time with a very good friend to help me realize that inside me is a gorgeous, brilliant, sexy, and interesting woman. I have things to share with the world other than how my kids are wearing out their jeans on a weekly basis or comparing growth rates and orthodontist bills. Stephanie captures that, and I love it. I love having my picture taken, and I can’t wait to look back when I am old and re-live my amazing journey."

I'm not gonna lie - I read her email about 10 times and cried each time. I know we have all been there - there is always an excuse - but sometimes its too late. I love the line: "It turns out we were fabulous all along." Because you are all fabulous and beautiful just the way you are - in this exact time in your life.

Shannan - thank you for teaching me oh so much about strength, love and class. The way you have danced in the rain is beautiful. You are a inspiration to so many. Keep fighting friend ;)

Shannan left me with this quote - I have heard it several times before and its one of my favs - you may even need to read it a few times to really let it sink in. During a really difficult time in my life I would wake up every morning and read this out loud to myself for about a month straight. It is powerful. Shannan thought it went perfectly with the entry and I couldn't agree more...

Women Mini Session: Johnna

Meet Johnna

Doesn't she have gorgeous eyes?!?! They are the perfect shade of green! Johnna is actually family, she married my cousin - you probably recognize her from this session :) Yes, that was the pregnancy session and they have since had a little girl named Kaylyn who in already EIGHT months old!

I really love this picture because Johnna has a great laugh - she is always down for fun and can be hysterically funny. She is one of those friends who is just easy to be around - someone whom you feel like you don't have to entertain or get all fancy for - you can just relax and have a total blast!

Several years ago, Johnna and her husband had a house fire and it destroyed everything. I do mean everything, it happened in the middle of the night and happened so fast they did not have time to do much of anything except get out of the house. I don't know about you, but I could not even begin to imagine that pain and devastation - Johnna is so strong, she bounced back and they were quickly on their feet again, this woman has amazing strength!

Johnna came with her BFF, Shanna , for the mini session - they were so much fun (I mean judging from the pic above how could you not have fun with these two?!?) They looked absolutely AMAZING - they even made their husbands take them out that night! SCORE!

Johnna works for Rosa's Cafe - she works in the corporate office and handles all the paper work/billing/etc... If you have never eaten at Rosa's you need to get your tooshy there pronto - cause its dang good! (No, I am not receiving anything free from Rosa's for that - but I will gladly accept it if they do.)

I asked Johnna to tell me three fun facts about her - this is what she said:

Women Mini Session: Darla

Meet Darla

Some of you may recognize Darla from this post . Yes, she was my Austin bride last summer! Let me tell you how excited I was when she booked and was driving all the way from Taylor with her bff (and maid of honor) Natalie! I was so thrilled to see them again! As you can see, Darla is incredibly photogenic - I was seriously giddy editing her photos - look at those eyes! GEEZ! Darla, you are BREATHTAKING!

Darla and her husband, Ricky, have four kids. When I asked Darla what her greatest achievement was she said "being a mom" - I'm sure you have your hands full, but your kids are so lucky! You are such a gorgeous person both inside and out.

I'm really loving the (above) photo - I just feel like it captures so much of who Darla really is - she is so laid back, fun, easy going and someone who I could spend the entire evening laughing and talking with. She really is such an amazing woman!

This is absolutely one of my most favorite pictures of all time. I really cant pin down just one certain thing that I love about it - I just love it! And can I just say one more time - YOUR EYES - o my lordy your eyes are glorious!

When I asked Darla to tell me one thing you would want the world to know about you she answered: " I follow Christ, and more than anything I hope people see HIS light in me."

That's right people - this is my mom! I'm just a little bit proud ;) Some you may also know her as my assistant! haha Yeah - we like to keep everything in the family around here lol. My mom is seriously one of the most amazing women you will ever meet. I could not even begin to tell you all of the sacrifices she has made for me and our family my entire life. My mom and I have the same sense of humor - we laugh at the most ridiculous times - something the rest of the family has a hard time understanding. For example, when I asked my mom why she wanted to do this session she replied "I'm going to need good pics for my obituary some day" - I honestly do not know what I would do without her.

I promise you my mom didn't have me when she was 10 years old - she is just that amazingly beautiful - that and I look older than what I really am haha. I was so excited when my mom said she wanted to do the mini session - one because she totally deserves a little bit of pampering and two because I knew I would cherish these pictures of her forever.When I asked her what her greatest achievement was she answered "my children" - thanks mom ;)

My mom works for the Methodist Children's Home - she basically takes care of kids all day that need a little extra attention. Yeah, I don't have that kind of patience, but my mom is so selfless and loving - she is so great with those kids.

Mom - thanks for being the best ever, I love you!

Women Mini Session: Shanna

Meet Shanna

Ok let me just start out by saying - holy cowabunga to that picture! Shanna you are BEAUTIFUL! I honestly don't think I could ever meet a person who does not LOVE Shanna - she has one of the most amazing personalities - she lights up a room when she is in it and she knows how to make anyone feel special. I had met Shanna a few times before her session, but this was the first time I really got to hang out with her. She is so much fun!

Shanna and her hubby live in Arlington where that woman has a green thumb! She enjoys landscaping and spending time with her friends.

When I asked her what achievement in her life has made her the most proud she said getting her Masters Degree in Social Work and working with homeless military veterans. When I read that my mouth flew open - you know I LOVE our military - wow to that Shanna. You just scored even more "I adore you" points!

Shanna actually did a BFF day with her bestie from high school, Johnna - I think its so cool when you still have your friends from high school. They are definitely each others biggest fans ;)

Shanna - it was so great getting to know you. Don't you ever question your value to this world cause we need people like you - you are beautiful both inside and out!

Women Mini Session: Melissa

Meet Melissa

This was my first time meeting Melissa, but she is actually my neighbor! ha

Melissa wanted to do this session because she is turning 40 this month, so she wanted some great pics to remember this milestone and to be glamed up for the day! Melissa you are gorgeous!

Melissa thinks her best feature are her eyes - I would have to agree - she has these really beautiful ice blue eyes.

Melissa has three wonderful boys - one which is a Marine. During her shoot whenever I would ask her about her boys or husband, Mark, she would just light up. You can tell her "boys" are the love of her life and that she would do anything for them. ;)

Melissa also has a in home day care - so basically she has the patience of a saint! haha

Oh and by the way - I lovveee the last pic of you - so beautiful!

Women Mini Session: Shelley

Meet Shelley

Shelley and I actually go wayyyy back - we went to church together growing up and were pretty close. Sadly, after graduation, we went our separate ways and it had been several years since I had seen her. So I was thrilled when her sister, Shannan, scheduled a session for her and Shelley! I was really excited to get to see her and catch up!

So let me just tell you - Shelley is this AMAZING opera singer - she is currently at Baylor, but is about to graduate. I recently went to Baylor to take pictures of her lead role as Susanna in Mozart's "The Marriage of Figaro." Let me just say I was BLOWN away - Shelley sang pretty much non stop in this almost 4 hour performance and she sang it all in Italian! Umm hello - I cant even count to ten in Spanish!

Oh and did I mention she may be going to Europe to sing before to long?!?!?

And you know I just had to throw one in of her and her sister, Shannan! We were laughing non stop this entire shoot ;) I just adore these girls!

I really love this last picture - I love the old feel to it - it just reminds me of like 1940's glam or something. Yep I love it!

Shelley - it was SO great to see you again and catch up - lets not wait another 5+ years to see each other again! I love seeing you follow your passion and your true gifting - I cant wait to see just how far you go!

Women Mini Session: Mary

Meet Mary

This was my first time to ever meet Mary, but I instantly liked her - she is SO easy to talk to! When I started editing her photos I was absolutely blown away by how photogenic she is...oh and her eyes - have mercy - her eyes are gorgeous!

Marys sweet boyfriend actually bought her this session for her Valentines Day gift - big brownie points for Elias!

OK I literally LOVED every single picture from her session - I seriously could not pick a favorite, but this one is perfect in my opinion ;)

Mary is the proud momma of TWIN one year old boys! Holy smokes can y'all believe that?!? I can not imagine what her day to day life must be like! ha She was really excited about the session because she said their birth she hadn't had much time to do anything for herself. She actually told me she almost didn't come that morning because one of the boys was sick - but she knew she needed this and decided it was ok to let Dad take care of him ;)

Mary actually has a cosmetology license and is totally addicted to makeup! She was tons of fun and I REALLY enjoyed getting to know her! I seriously hope to see her again soon!

Women Mini Session: Melanie

Meet Melanie

This picture was actually my very favorite from the session - I just think she looks plain gorgeous here :)

Melanie came to the shoot for a girls day (with Jennifer & Kaci) and to get some photos for her hubby. I had only met Mel once before and it was brief so I was actually real excited to get to spend some time with her and getting to know her! She is such a fun person and was down for anything - which you know I loved! ha

In her free time Melanie likes to bake & design cakes from scratch and she loves to dance!

Melanie is actually from South Carolina and recently moved to the Dallas area - when I asked her what achievement in her life has made her most proud she said that while in SC she was the regional outreach coordinator for Federations of Families. She would help children/families understand,cope and overcome emotional and mental illness. Melanie also worked with the SC Board of Education on helping them meet the needs of children that suffer with emotional and mental illness. Wow to that - I'm sure that was extremely difficult and rewarding all rolled into one!

Melanie's life moto is this: "Be who you are, say what you feel...because those that matter don't mind, those that mind don't matter"

Yeah, I'm liking that ;) Melanie you rock!

Today is actually extra special because today is Jennifer's birthday! yay!

She actually just moved here from South Carolina so she is having to get use to us crazy Texans and our insane weather ;)

Meet Natalie

Natalie and her bff, Darla, came all the way from the Austin area for this shoot - I was so excited to see them as I met Natalie when she was the Maid Of Honor in Darlas wedding that I shot last summer in Austin. These two are complete polar opposites - Natalie is the DIVA of the group - always has to look top notch while Darla is carefree and laid back - which made their session so fun - I laughed non stop.

Natalie is seriously funny - she has that dry, witty sense of humor that I LOVE!

Oh good gracious - this picture left me with my mouth hanging open - Nat you are absolutely stunning - don't ever forget that.

Women Only Mini: GRACIN

I am so excited to start showing you all of the amazing women from my first Women Only Mini Session! Everyone had so much fun and it was a HUGE success - Im looking forward to many more ;)

Meet Gracin

Gracin - was so fun and was totally down for anything - which you know I LOVED! ha She is a Sophmore at Red Oak High School where she is in the Band and plays Soft Ball.

The fact that she has accomplished so much in life is what she is most proud of and when I asked her what she would want the world to know about her she simply responded with "That I am always there for anyone who needs to talk - even if I barely know you." I loved that response - to me that just showed how compassionate she is for others - the fact that the one thing she would want the world to know is that she cares and is always willing to listen to what YOU have to say - wow - Gracin - I hope you never ever loose that ;)

One of the reasons Gracin signed up for the mini session was because she thought it would be an amazing experience and she wanted to spend some one on one time with her boyfriends mom ;) I truly hope she walked away feeling beautiful and good about herself cause she has a lot to offer.

Gracin - It was so great meeting you - I hope to see you again soon! Now go kick some softball booty! ha

OK just imagine me right now with a "Deer in the headlights look" that is exactly how I'm feeling. I LOVE writing blogs about others, but writing one - a completely raw, real emotion one about myself? *Shudder* Please do not take me writing this as a sign of me being conceited or trying to be flashy - this is actually so humbling. The reason I am doing this is for two reasons...

1. Saturday marks my first of hopefully several "Women Only Sessions" - I have these amazing women signed up for this thing and am so excited and proud of them - cause lets be REAL honest - its hard for women to just be gutsy enough to go get their picture done of just themselves. So I started thinking and thought "well how freakin dare I ask these women to do this, when I would cry if I had to be on that side of the camera." hahah Funny - but seriously. So I decided I must do this - because how can I encourage someone to do this when I'm not even sure I would be brave enough to do it? But then....

2. I really started feeling like maybe part of the reason God laid a session like this on my heart is to open my eyes to some things - maybe I have a story that needs to be told. Maybe I need to see myself as others see me...

Gosh did I mention how awkward this is writing about myself? I have left and come back to this post at least 5 times already.

SO I called my cousin Lesley and my sister Chelsea and made them join me for a photo shoot - at first they were kindof less than thrilled but we ended up having the BEST time - it had been awhile since I had laughed like that and felt so good about myself. It really made me even MORE excited about Saturday!

So below are some of the pictures - and even some of the questions I will be asking these women on Saturday.

What do you feel is your best feature?

hmm..I would have to say my eyes and of course my sarcastic, kick butt personality! ha

What achievement in your life has made you most proud of yourself?

as corney as it may sound - I would have to say doing photography - something I always loved, but never gave 100% to until recently.

Tell me 3 quirks about you:

1. Whenever I think there is a burglar or something in my house, backseat of my car, etc... I talk to them and say things like "I know you are in there - I'm not scared of you - Ive already called the cops" even though there is never anyone there it just makes me feel better! hahaha

2. I suffer with road rage.

3. I have an abnormal fear of stuff - like clowns, haunted houses, mice, and the theme song from Cheers always makes me feel nervous.

If you could tell the world one thing about what you have learned in life, what would you want us to know?

This is actually something I am learning in life... That more than likely your life plan may not always turn out the way you imagined, sometimes it will be better and sometimes worse. I never thought I would be actually following my heart and doing something I absolutely LOVE (photography) - its amazing! On the other hand, many of you may not know this, but I have had two miscarriages. Infertility is something I think about on a daily basis. Some days I cant help but cry my eyes out at the thought of never becoming a mom. I never understood the pain women with infertility issues dealt with until Ive had it slap me in the face as well. Its always bitter sweet hearing about someone else becoming pregnant or having to attend another baby shower. Its sometimes hard not to become so angry or question God when you see parents who don't cherish their children or take care of them the way they deserve. But I am learning how to cope with that heart ache and view this circumstance differently than I have before. These pictures will always remind me of this time in my life - this growing period. The other parts of my life that are so exciting. The last year of me being in my 20's (UGH!!!) and the reminder that I am beautiful and sometimes deserve to remind myself of that ;)

And let me just say - I apologize if you found this blog a little too open or if it made you feel uncomfortable - but I am who I am - you can take it or leave it, but I hope you will see this entry as it was meant to be - a little glimpse into my heart ;)

Ladies Mini Session

Hi Friends!

I am so excited to tell you about my first mini session for 2011! I truly believe that every single woman deserves to feel beautiful and to see themselves as others see them. I know how hard it is to have your picture taken - its easier to have a family session or to schedule something for your kids - but its your turn! You deserve to document this time in your life - trust me your children (and husband) will thank you. I would of loved to have pictures of my mom and grandma at all stages of their life.

This is going to be such a fun GIRL only day - why not round up a few of your girlfriends and make a day of it? Get pampered, have a photo shoot and then enjoy the rest of your day on the downtown Waxahachie square - lots of lovely tearooms and girly shops. This is also a great opportunity for a mother/daughter day - this would be really great for "tweens" as well :)

When: Saturday, Feb 19th
Where: Downtown Waxahachie (hair and makeup will be done in a loft on the square and then we will do some outdoor shots on the square)

The Langford Family!

This was my last session for 2010 and I couldn't think of a sweeter family to close out the year. I have known Shelby for years and years, but this was my first time meeting her family! It was pretty chilly that morning, but they totally rocked it. Michael and Carter had me laughing non stop, they are both so full of personality...and I was pleasantly surprised at how long they lasted - considering I had them trekking all over the place.

We got lucky when this train came through - I just started yelling "KISS!!"

This family has the BEST eye balls! haha Seriously though - those baby blues are insane!

As 2010 Comes To A Close...

Wow! I can not believe this is the last day of 2010, can you? At the beginning of the year I wrote a list of my 2010 NYE Resolutions - you can see that blog here As a refresher here is what I listed, along with how/if I fulfilled them.

* Buy A New Camera

I actually bought a new camera right after Halloween! I also bought two new lenses this year and several additional equipment

*Offer One Holiday Mini Session

YES! I offered a Fall mini this year Whimsey Hollow along with State Fair of Texas mini this year and both were overwhelmingly successful!

* Do At Least 30 Photo Shoots This Year (excluding weddings)

Ok so this one made me nervous when I originally wrote it - considering that in 2009 I did 10 shoots total, I really had NO idea what to expect but I did 42 shoots this year, I'm very happy with that ;)

* Shoot At Least One Wedding This Year
Drum Roll.... Four Weddings for 2010!!!!

* Work On Branding, Marketing, Packages, Etc...
I got a new logo, created and designed my new business cards, created wedding packages, lots of new paper print info made.

I think this year may the first year I actually completed all of my New Year Resolutions! haha

I am absolutely BLOWN away by all the new clients I have met this year, along with my returning customers it seriously makes my eyes water thinking about it. Many of these clients have turned into actual friends. Thank you to all of my families this year - thank you for trusting me with your kids and trusting me when I ask you to do some crazy stuff. Thanks for all of my couples - you guys are awesome, thank you for allowing me to capture your love and having fun with the shoots and totally going for it when I ask you to "make out" while the camera is in your face. To all of the kids I was able to work with - thank you for giving me high fives - you make my heart smile. To all of my Brides (and Grooms) - thank you thank you thank you - wow it was an honor to be apart of your special day - thank you from the bottom of my heart for trusting me.

And lastly, thank you to all of my friends and family for believing in me, pushing me and sometimes being brutally honest. I could not of made it this far without y'all!

I cant wait to show you what all 2011 has in store! Its gonna rock - I just hope I can keep up! Hold on tight friends ;)

Christopher, Rachel, Zack & Zoey

This is the photo shoot that I was almost convinced wasn't going to happen. See, I was squeezing Rachel and Chris in because Chris lives in Colorado and was only going to be in town this one weekend so they had to get pictures on this certain Saturday. Well, the night before the shoot Rachel calls and tells me that Chris flight has been delayed and they have NO idea when he will get on another flight. Around midnight Rachel texts me saying he just got on a flight so we were still on for the morning shoot! The next morning, I get to the location and little did I know there was a parade at the same time in the same area as the shoot!!! All of Waxahachie was there I swear hahah. So, as I'm frantically trying to come up with a different plan, ( knowing they will be here anytime) Rachel calls and tells me they just had a flat tire! At this point all we could do was laugh - seemed everything was trying to slow this shoot down. Thankfully, they were able to make it shortly after the parade was clearing out. From then on it was easy sailing (thank goodness!). Let me just tell you how happy I am that we didn't cancel - not only do I love their pictures, but I met a very awesome couple and some sweet kids - Rachel and I became instant friends! They are all so fun!

Zoey is little miss priss - she had the best poses - i seriously did not coach this child with any of her poses - this is 100% Zoey!

Zack is such a sweet kid - he was such a ham ;)

I'm seriously in love with this picture.

Ok so let me do some explaining on these next few pictures. See, as I said earlier, Chris lives in Colorado - but him and Rachel are head over heels in LOVE ;) So Chris bought Rachel a ring for Christmas - yes a RING - a big gorgeous ring! The problem is they had yet to tell the kids, but they REALLY wanted to get a few "engagement" type shots since Chris wouldn't be back down for a few months. So while the kids were occupied we broke out the ring. Well Zack immediately noticed. As soon as Chris pulled it out of his pocket Zack ran over to him, Rachel and I were exchanging nervous glances, and he asked Chris if that was a ring. The he whispered to Chris "Ask my mom to marry you!" He was giddy with excitement and went on telling Chris how he is to hold out the ring and what to say. Needless to say, my heart melted...but I made sure to keep snappin so I could document this sweet moment....

As you can see it was a very special moment for this "soon to be" family ;) And now for a close up of that ring!

And just FYI - I received news yesterday that the engagement is now OFFICIAL! Congrats you two - the love you have for each other is so evident and sweet. I wish you all a lifetime of love and laughter ;)

Chris, Rachel, Zack & Zoey - you guys ROCK! Thank you so much for allowing me a glimpse into your world! I hope to see y'all again soon!

The Key Family!

I met the Key family at The Gaylord for some Christmas photos - word of advice: Go to the Gaylord early in the morning (I'm talking by 8:00am or late at night - after 11:00pm) if you want Christmas photos - otherwise there will be tons of people and it will make it very hard to get good photos without lots of patience! haha We met on a Sunday morning and it was still crowded. Thankfully, the kids did so well and were so patient in all the madness! This family is absolutely adorable and so laid back - always a pleasure working with them! You may remember Cameron from this summer when I did his new born pictures - yes he has grown THAT much!

I met Mandy and her girls a few days after Thanksgiving to get a few family Christmas pictures. I absolutely love this family. Mandy has been an amazing friend in my life since I was eleven years old, she actually introduced me to my best friend, Amy (see post below) - they are cousins! Mandy has always been like the big sister I never had - I have had so many wonderful talks and laughs with her. I can not tell you how glad I am that she is still in my life :) Mandy has three adorable girls that I seriously could of taken pics of the ENTIRE day - Caitlyn and Caylee know how to work a camera and I was in love with some of their pictures - so this entry may be a little long...

My Favorite (Armstrong) Family!

So let me introduce you to my second family -

Meet (from left to right) Jesse, Destiny, Amy, Bobby, Debbie and Charlie. I have known this family since I was in 6th grade! Amy and I met at church and almost instantly became best friends...I say almost because Amy has some crazy story (that I don't remember) about me being a snob about coming to her birthday party when we first met. ANYWAYS, I spent many weekends at their house with lots of homemade (delicious) dinners by mama Debbie. If Amys old bedroom could talk the stories it would tell... Growing up it was just Amy and Jesse and then a few years ago Debbie and Charlie adopted Bobby and Destinee - this is such a giving family! I was honored to take some family photos of them and, as always, we had lots of laughs!

Ok so anyone who knows Jesse know this is such a "Jesse Pose" I'm so glad I got it on camera - its perfection! ha

So this picture was just for fun - but I HAD to post it because it is just one of the many reasons why I LOVE these two ;)

This is seriously one of the sweetest but most hilarious guys you will ever meet - ladies he is single - contact me!

This is Amy - we have been through so much since we were 11 years old (that's 17 years ago!!!!!!!!) We have stories that would make you pee your pants laughing or hang your mouth in disbelief. We have been room mates (twice), runaways (only for a few hours - then we gave up), detectives (we are PROS at finding stuff out - we are up for hire), She was the maid of honor in my wedding, and she would fight for me (I have weak arms). I could go on and on about how much she means to me...she is one of those friends I will have for life and no matter how far apart we are we will always be super close. I love you Amy Ruth!

The Lauterbach Family!

I met the Lauterbachs in downtown Waxahachie a few days before Thanksgiving - I had never met this family but let me tell you I instantly loved them! They were all so fun and had me laughing non stop. You know how there are certain people you can be around and they just give off a vibe (like you can feel the love or the tension for that matter)? Well this family just gives off a happy vibe - you seriously cant help but smile when you are around them. All of the kids were amazing! They all were so cooperative and never once did I have to become "bossy photographer" hahah

Whimsey Hollow {Fall Mini Session}

I have been just dying to show you these pictures! Whimsey Hollow was a HUGE success and I'm already thinking of ideas for next year. It went so smoothly and the weather was absolutely perfect. Jarred & Brazos

Several weeks ago I headed out to Covington, TX to the Moody household. I had never met them, but Karla had warned me that they lived out in the country. I honestly didn't think much about it - I mean I live in Waxahachie - that's pretty country! Well, she wasn't joking - I had to laugh when I turned down a long dirt road to get to their house! ha They have tons of beautiful land with lots of horses, cows, etc... They were all so nice and fun - I had such a great time!

Meet adorable little Brazos - he was such a good sport - he rarely cried and was so laid back. His dad is a country music singer (check him out here) so it was so fitting to take some pictures of Brazos in his daddys guitar case! LOVE IT!

This is his older brother, Jarred, who was such a sweetheart! He was such a trooper and seriously, how cute is he?!? ;) He was also very reassuring when I frantically asked (as I'm standing in very tall grass) "do y'all have lots of snakes???" to which he replied "No mam, we spray" ha!

I love this one - within minutes there were cows surrounding us - isn't the sky just gorgeous?!

So Karla had told me that she wanted to get some of Brazos with his horse - for a split second I seriously thought she meant a fake horse - maybe a stuffed animal or a rocking horse - ummm NOPE! Brazos LOVES this horse - it was actually so sweet to see them interacting with each other - and I promise he was not left alone on this horse - his dad was right there (oh the joys of photoshop!).

We then walked over to the hay field - and omg take my breath away - the lighting and the sky was spectacular. The sun was beginning to set and I could of stayed out there all evening.

I was so excited when Brazos fell asleep - it was prefect timing! We got this...

I am in love with this shot - every time I look at it just makes me glad to live in Texas - look how perfect the evening sky is!

Wayne, Karla, Jarred and Brazos - thanks so much for showing me what "real country" is and for such a great time! Hope to see y'all again soon ;)

Sadly, their oldest son couldn't join us for the shoot (darn college) but we were still able to get some great ones! Y'all will just have to come back and do a family session (hint hint) ha! This family is so fun - seriously fun - they are one of my "down with anything families"

I LOVE this picture - I think it just shows how fun they are - my assistant and I had the BEST time shooting them on the bumper cars - their laughter was infectious!

I laughed non stop with this family - they are so GREAT and so sweet! Although, as you can see in the photo above, the two younger kids were not sure what to think of me! hahaha They were my last session of the day and by that time the Midway was packed! But they were all such troopers :)

Love it - even making funny faces this family is just plain gorgeous!

I wish I had a video of the few minutes of taking this picture - the whole cotton candy incident was a scream to watch - hands down the funniest moment of the day!

State Fair Mini Session {Part 1}

While the State Fair was in town I planned a State Fair Mini Session - oh.my.goodness. it was FUN (but oh so tiring!) It was actually tougher than I thought - for one the midway barkers were not as nice as I was hoping they would be - most were not ok with us taking pictures... And second, the fair was unusually crowded for a Tuesday! But overall we all had a great time and I got some really fun shots!

The Phillips Girls

Meet Kennedi, Emmerson and Berkleigh! I love this family - Mandy (their mom) and I go wayyyy back and I use to babysit Kennedi and Berkleigh quite a bit (yes, I'm that old) - you may remember their family session last November.

Aren't these girls just absolutely gorgeous? They are all so different too - I just adore them!

The Townsleys

Ive known Amy and Bill for several years, but this is the first time I had met their two kids - Kingston and Haivyn. Can I just say "MOST ADORABLE KIDS IN THE WORLD!" Not only are they just darling but oh what fun personalities - Kingston was perfect and always gave me the best smiles and facial expressions - just look for yourself...

Just by this picture alone - how could you not want to be best friends with this family?!?

It was actually Haivyns 1st Birthday! So of course we had to get a few bday pics!

The Davis Family!

I'm Baacckk! I had a wonderful family cruise vacation - just wish it would of lasted longer! But I have tons to do - including a huge amount of blog posts to get posted - so first on the list - the adorable Davis family!

This family was so fun! Although the most difficult in the group was the dad! ha He was a good sport though considering all the stuff I was having them do! I absolutely adore this family! Melanie is just plain gorgeous - both inside and out - she just glows! And the boys - oh my word - Bo and Noah are just too precious - they had me laughing non stop! Although, I better be careful cause if I don't watch it Bo may take over my job! ha He had so many ideas for photos and even told me he is considering becoming a photographer - oh make my heart melt.

I'm totally diggin this one - sweet, sexy and sassy all in one ;)

And see? I wasn't lyin about Melanie being just plain beautiful!

I really love this family photo - and just fyi - I didn't even tell Eric to do that - score!

We took several "funny photos" but this one was one of my all time favorites of all "Stephanie Wilson Photography funny face photos" - to me it just summed up this family so well (at least what I know of them) - its perfection.

Heidi & Jordan

Meet Heidi and Jordan - a cute couple from Utah getting married on 1-1-11 (cool right?).

I always love engagement sessions but this one I really REALLY loved - for two reasons:

1. This couple was so head over heels in love and they were just glowing - it was so sweet really- the way Jordan looks at her with such adoration and the way Heidi smiles and laughs non stop when around him was absolute perfection. These two are the real deal - like Kelly and Zack from Saved by the Bell (my all time favorite TV show as a kid - there's some useless trivia for you)

Geez! Can we say someone is gonna have some pretty babies?!?! (Was that inappropriate?) But seriously these two are HOTTIES!

So here's a little back story on the firetruck - as we were walking along we saw this firetruck and Jordan jokingly says "We should do some pictures on the truck" - well one thing you must learn - you ask and I will make it happen (well at least try my darnest) So I ran up to fireman and did some sweet talking and had Heidi bat her eyelashes at them (joking) and we were golden. It was hilarious getting them up there and even funnier when Heidi was trying to get down and told the fireman "don't worry I have shorts on underneath my dress" hahaha - The look on their faces were priceless.

So the # 2 reason why I loved LOVED this session is because of this:

I have had this idea buzzin around my brain for a long time now, but needed to find a couple or family who would give 100% to it and make it awesome - so I was SO excited when Heidi told me they were down! Check out the awesomeness...

Mr & Mrs Ashton

Two weeks ago I had the honor of shooting Megan and Tonys wedding. I was super worried the day of because it literally rained off and on all day - and considering their wedding was planned to be outside I really had my fingers crossed. Thankfully, a hour or so before the wedding the rain moved out and the rest of the night was perfect! I did not know Megan or Tony prior to them booking their wedding, but let me tell you - they are great! This was one of the sweetest weddings I had ever been to - you could just tell how much they love and adore each other - I rarely cry at weddings but even my eyes were stinging watching her walk down the aisle and the look on Tonys face as he saw his gorgeous bride! I hope you enjoy the pics from their special day (be warned - there's alot of them!)

I really love watching the friends and family during the ceremony ;)

WOWZERS - I just realized how long it has been since I have done a blog update! FORGIVE me! I have been beyond swamped as my busy season has officially started! I have been spending hours and hours editing, plus working on lots of upcoming sessions and plenty of new and exciting stuff for 2011 (it will be here before you know it people!)

Several weeks ago my mom and I got to visit my brother, Derek, in Austin. I was so excited to see him and visit - sadly, we were only able to stay a few hours, but we were able to get a mini photo session in on the UT campus - cha-ching!

Derek will be graduating from The University Of Texas Law School next year! I am so so so proud of him! He has always been such a hard worker when it comes to school (unlike my sister and I)! He was definitely blessed with the book smarts of the family!

I absolutely LOVE this last picture - cue the Law and Order music - or Perry Mason...

Derek- I love love love you - you are the best brother ever and I am so very proud of you!

Mr & Mrs Jones - Austin Wedding

I have been dying to get this on the blog! A few weeks ago I traveled to Austin for Darla and Ricky's wedding. It was at this beautiful venue called Chapel Dulcinea, it is out in the Hill Country and just breathtaking! Darla had to of been the most laid back Bride I have ever seen! She was so chill and just took her time enjoying her day - she was so fun and not to mention GORGEOUS! There are just certain people that are naturally beautiful both inside and out and she is one of those people. I mean seriously....

Thank God the weather was nice and it wasn't too hot yet. It was perfect ;)

How funny is this family photo (don't worry I took a normal one too) but I love the fun one - it shows their personality - plus i love that the daughter on the right is basically making the same face as her mom.

Let me tell you just how important it is to take a few minutes after the ceremony while the guests leave for the reception to have a few minutes with just you and your photographer. It is insanely important people! I can not stress that enough, not only does it give you a few minutes to take a break with you and your new husband but it also gives me a chance to document this amazingly, special day and the opportunity to capture your crazy, head over heels, love! Trust me when you are 60 you are not going to care about tons of different pictures of you and your wedding attendants, but you will cherish the ones of you and the man you fell in love with (you're children will cherish them as well!) Ok so enough of that soap box - really I should just let the pictures speak for themselves.

Oh good grief - that last photo is on FIRE!

It was so sweet to get to spend a few minutes with Darla and Ricky alone at the Chapel - everyone had already left for the reception and it was just so sweet and intimate.

Speaking of receptions...how cool are they? They had their reception at Austins very own Nutty Brown Cafe. This place was fun and had some great areas for pics - it was another perfect Texas wedding!

Darla & Ricky - thank you thank you thank you for allowing me to be there on your special day! You make a beautiful couple and seem to fit perfectly. I wish you and your family a lifetime of love, laughter and happiness!

Newborn Session: Cameron

Last week I had the privilege of meeting adorable little Cameron, he was about 7 weeks old for his pictures and was just so sweet. Even though we didn't get any sleepy pictures we still got some great ones! He was wide eyed and laid back...

I am taking captions for this pic - I would be scared to know what he wanted to tell me if he could talk! ha! I'm sure it was something along the lines of "this is ridiculous"... you're right Cam - you are ridiculously CUTE!
Speaking of cute - meet Cameron's sister, Kaitlyn, who is 90 miles per hour all the time! She was so much fun - I seriously loved hearing all she had to say and of course, all she wanted to do was take "silly face" photos - which are the best ;)

I love feet pictures - this one just screams LOVE to me...

Ok so I really REALLY love this last pic - it stopped me in my tracks actually - I love how Cameron is holding on to his dads hand so tightly, and at the same time his dad has such a firm, yet gentle, grip on his sons hand. Just made me do some thinking...and some smiling ;)

FALL MINI SESSION!

This will not be your typical "pumpkin patch" fall session. There will be numerous picture areas set up in the wooded area - think very whimsical/enchanted garden type of feeling. There will be some basic areas such as an antique chair for your child to sit on with lots of leaves and pumpkins scattered around. There will also be places like a tent made from a quilt with an antique bicycle, or a perfect little reading nook complete with your favorite childhood story books, as well several other options. Your child will get to explore all the different areas, so your pictures will include several different scenes. This will be great fun and perfect options for Christmas cards or even Christmas gifts ;)
